Achievement Tests

Have you heard someone say “my child reads at a sixth-grade level” and wondered how they could possibly know this? The answer is: achievement tests. Used alongside IQ testing, these tests measure your child’s knowledge or skill development and it is scored according to their grade.

Knowing where your child sits can help their school better understand and support their needs, whether that means offering special support or becoming aware of stand-out skills in particular subjects.

The achievement tests our psychologists use

Our educational psychologists use gold-standard achievement tests to give us a clear picture of your child’s abilities.

WIAT®-III A&NZ | Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Australian and New Zealand Standardised, Third Edition

Age: 7+

This is an excellent test for examining your child’s academic skills, revealing their particular strengths and weaknesses. The results of the WIAT® can help our educational psychologists determine if your child is eligible for any intervention treatments or programmes.

WJ IV Tests of Achievement (Form C)  – Australasian Adaptation

Age: 2+

The main purpose of this test is to help our educational psychologist screen, diagnose, and monitor your child’s progress in reading, writing, and mathematics. The results of the WJ IV achievement test can also help us identify learning disorders, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia.
