Psychiatrist Appointments

Make an Appointment with our Psychiatrists

 

We’re here to help children, adolescents, young adults and new mums and their families who are struggling with their mental health.

Here’s how to make an appointment with our Psychiatrists.

Step 1: Referrals 

Before you come and meet with us, you’ll need a referral from your GP or a specialist (such as an Obstetrician).

  • Referrals can be made to one of our psychiatrists, can be open to 'any psychiatrist' or can be for another named psychiatrist if you already have one.  Referrers, please see here for further information.

  • Please note that we do not accept referrals from online-only (Telehealth only) GP practices.

  • Referrals from GPs lasts 12 months and referrals from specialists and consultant physicians are valid for three months. 

  • You will need to get a referral before booking an appointment.

  • Currently, we do not accept any referrals under DVA, WorkCover or for court reports.

Step 2: Request an Appointment

Please complete the Appointment request form and include the referral. Alternatively, email us with the following details:

  • Address (if different from referral)

  • Contact phone number

  • Presenting issues/concerns

  • Contact name of Parent/Carer (if patient under 18)

  • The referral must be attached

Step 3: Referral Acceptance and Contact to Book

We may require more information before we can accept the referral – if so, we will be in touch. Once we have all the information we need, we will contact you to schedule an appointment at our Sydney-based clinic.

Please note in most cases we would require a deposit of the first appointment fees before we can book an appointment. 

​

Our staff and practitioners are very busy; while we will try to contact you as soon as possible, it can take up to one week for us to respond. 

​

We are committed to providing the best possible care to our patients, which means we cannot always accept all referrals. While we do not always provide a reason for not accepting a referral, it is usually due to our psychiatrists' capacity due to current patients.

Step 4: First Appointment

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early and bring the following with you:​

​

  • Medicare card with patient’s name.

  • Referral letter (if your referring GP/specialist provided a hard-copy to you).

  • Any reports or letters from other professionals such as psychologists, paediatricians, gynaecologists (for perinatal), psychotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and school counsellors (you may send them prior via email).

  • Any other reports/documents requested (you may send them prior via email)..​

Bringing support

 

For children: We encourage both parents to come along to the appointment with a referred child or adolescent, even if they do not both live with the child. If this is not possible, at least one parent or carer needs to attend.

 

For individuals: You are welcome to invite someone else along, such as a member of your extended family, a friend or teacher, if you think that would be helpful.

 

For perinatal and adults: partners are encouraged to attend.

Please do not bring any other children requiring supervision to the appointment. We do not offer supervision.

Please note, we do not provide an emergency service. If you need help outside usual working hours, contact your GP or try the following services for advice and support:​

In an emergency or if you are/someone is at serious risk of harm to themselves or others, please:

  • Call the police on 000 

  • Go to a hospital emergency department, where there will be an out-of-hours mental health team or psychiatrist contactable.
