Mary Joy (MJ) Basilio

Mary Joy (MJ) Basilio is a Registered Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. 


MJ’s non-judgemental and empathic nature allows her to easily connect with a diverse range of clients and focuses on building strong and trusting relationships. She loves working with children and her fun and playful nature allows children to develop rapport with her quickly.


MJ’s areas of focus when working with children and adults include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Resilience building

  • Stress and Burnout

  • Developmental trauma

  • Executive Functioning and Learning difficulties

  • Emotional Dysregulation

  • Children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

  • Difficulties with interpersonal and/or Family relationships

  • Behavioural difficulties at home or school

MJ uses a variety of evidenced-based interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Applied Behaviour Analysis. She is also a Youth Mental Health First Aider; a ProACTive group facilitator for children and young people with anxiety; and a group facilitator for a parenting group program called Engaging Adolescents


MJ has experience in implementing a range of psychological and cognitive assessments that can assist with guiding intervention and can provide support for funding.
